About This Show

When it comes to unexplained phenomena, it is just that. Unexplained. We try to approach this from as many different ways as possible, and to throw out the assumptions that have driven research for a very long time. These strange experiences people have, no matter what you want to label or catagorize them as, are real in some way. They have been reported throughout history and across cultures. If nothing else, they are a very Human experience. None of the theories we have may even come close to divining what we are actually experiencing, if they did, we would have some answers. We do not know what Reality is, what life or death are, or truly why we are here. We do know that our senses filter much out, and our memories do not work like we think they do. New approaches are needed if we are ever to make any progress at all in understanding what we are interacting with. Some of that comes from understanding ourselves, and some of that comes from having a truly open mind in confronting those things that defy explanation. We need new eyes, perspectives, and better questions. That is the goal of Where Did the Road Go? To go places that have not been tread before, and explore new things from new angles. To leave the well worn road, and wander...

Roy Davies on The Darwin Conspiracy - October 4, 2014

Roy Davies joins us to talk about his book The Darwin Conspiracy: Origins of a Scientific Crime. Did Charles Darwin really come up with the theory of evolution? Some say he stole the idea from others, but is there proof? And to what degree? Roy Davies does a fantastic job in this book of fleshing out what really happened in those days and revealing who really discovered what. It's a fascinating book, and will be an equaling fascinating conversation!
In nearly 30 years at the BBC, Roy Davies wrote, produced and directed many acclaimed documentaries for the archaeology and history series Chronicle and was for seven years Series Editor of Timewatch. He specialized in ground-breaking investigative and revisionist documentaries which challenged and re-examined popular historical beliefs among which were stories about the discovery of the tomb of Philip of Macedon and the row between Sir Arthur Evans and Professor Alan Wace over the origins of the Minoan civilization in Crete. Roy is also the author of Nautilus: Story of Man under the Sea, and was Executive Producer of the five-part BBC series of the same name which revealed the dangers of submarines since Napoleonic times and stories of the men who served in them. He was with Thor Heyerdahl when he burnt his reed boat off an island in the Red Sea in 1978, produced the programme which covered the raising of the Mary Rose off Southsea Castle in 1982 and covered the trial of O.J. Simpson for the BBC in 1995.
The book is out of print. If you want a copy of it, you can e-mail Roy directly, as he does have some copies left and he is willing to sell them at the original cost of the book. His email is TroyDavies at AOL. You can figure it out from there. If you can't, contact us and we will get you in touch. We will likely also be making the ebook available soon!

Laird Scranton on China's Cosmological Prehistory - September 27, 2014

Laird Scranton is our guest this night to discuss his latest book, China's Cosmological Prehistory: The Sophisticated Science Encoded in Civilization's Earliest Symbols. We discuss the knowledge of the ancients, the deep connections in cosmology, creation myths, and science between the Dogon, Chinese, and Buddhist systems. It gets VERY interesting in it's implications...

Laird Scranton is an independent researcher of ancient cosmology and language. His studies in comparative cosmology have served help synchronize aspects of ancient African, Egyptian, Vedic, Chinese, Polynesian and other world cosmologies, and have led to an alternate approach to reading Egyptian hieroglyphic words. His degree is in English from Vassar College.

He became interested in Dogon mythology and symbolism in the early 1990s. He has studied ancient myth, language, and cosmology since 1997 and has been a lecturer at Colgate University. He also appears in John Anthony West’s Magical Egypt DVD series. He lives in Albany, New York. His writings include books and articles published or taught by Colgate University, Temple University and the University of Chicago.

Scotty Roberts and John Ward on Paradigm, Egypt, Symbolism, Occultism, and more - September 20, 2014

Scotty Roberts and John Ward join us to talk about ancient civilizations, Egypt, and their upcoming Paradigm Symposium. It goes way further than that, as we get into symbolism, occultism, Aleister Crowley, and much more.

Dr. John Ward is an archaeologist and anthropologist residing in Luxor, Egypt. Over the years, Dr. Ward has conducted numerous investigations of ancient Egyptian architecture and symbolism, while also carrying out research into the many mysteries surrounding medieval Templarism. In 2006, Ward was recruited by the Knights Templar of Britannia, which is a modern Templar order affiliated with and has been acknowledged by the Vatican. With the help of his partner, Dr. Maria Nilsson, John has managed to track the use of particular symbols through the various dynasties and the geography of ancient Egypt leading all the way into the present, with similar threads even extending into parts of Western Europe. The symbols that John and Maria have come to recognize play a very important and integral role, based from their studies, regarding ancient Egyptian life. It is through these symbols that they are driven with the passion to continue their work, which has enabled them not only to develop a greater understanding of the various cultures they study, but also to utilize and acknowledge the importance and sanctity of the symbols. These are aspects which, John argues, still remain largely unknown to mainstream academia.

Scott Alan Roberts is a man of diverse interests and a fairly eclectic background. He is Founder and Publisher of INTREPID Magazine, a monthly journal focusing on Politics, Science, Culture, Conspiracy Theories and Unexplained Phenomena. He is the Founder of the Paradigm Symposium. He is an accomplished writer, public speaker, illustrator, historian, designer, theologian and stand up philosopher. Of Scot/Welsh descent, he was raised in an agnostic Christian home, with a communistic Jewish grandfather and a Ukrainian Orthodox stepfather and was mentored by an old stonemason throughout his early teen years. He attended Bible College and entered his Masters of Divinity program in theological seminary in a very conservative, fundamentalist, evangelical Christian academic setting. He joined the United States Marine Corp and eventually entered the ministry as a youth pastor. All of this was to prep him for the next thirty years, which he spent in advertising and publishing. Scotty’s first pieces of published artwork appeared on a plethora of dust jacket and cover designs for a small, Minneapolis‐based theological book publisher in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

In and throughout his career, he has been involved in theatre and stage drama, and did a stint as a royal character at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, which lasted over fifteen years. Scotty attributes much of his stage presence and public speaking abilities to his years of interactive street theatre at the festival.

During a subsequent period of working in various ad agencies throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Scotty authored and illustrated a series of graphic novels, The Bloodlore Chronicles.

During the 1990s, Scotty owned The Uptown Marketing Group, a small advertising and marketing studio in the Minneapolis area. During this time he authored a number of newsletters and advertising campaigns, as well as servicing a list of illustration and design clientele.

Scotty is the author and illustrator of The Rollicking Adventures of Tam O’Hare (2007), an illustrated novel originally intended for 8‐14‐year‐old readers, but which found its greater readership with the college‐aged audience and older. He has also authored for New Page Books, The Rise and Fall of the Nephilm (2012) and The Secret History of the Reptilians (2013).

Scotty has written articles for TAPS ParaMagazine (the official publication of SyFy’s Ghost Hunters) and went on to become their Editor‐In‐Chief during 2009 and 2010.

He is a talented public speaker, and has been a featured lecturer with TAPS and Beyond Reality Events, as well as various other paranormal events between 2007 and 2012.

He is father to five children, and lives with his wife and family in rural Wisconsin. Being a native Minnesotan, Scotty considers himself a ‘stranger in a strange land’ filled with Green Bay Packers fans.
